Tonight, for the first time in a couple of years, I watched a Youtube video of James Brown and Luciano Pavarotti perform “It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World.” Made me break into a cold sweat.
I love just about everything James Brown ever recorded, but nothing hits me like that song. There’ve been some mighty powerful covers, too. I’m a little bummed I couldn’t find a version of Big Maybelle’s recording of the tune to share, but these two renditions are certainly worth a listen.
1) Jerry Granelli V16.
2) Grateful Dead
